Morris Rugby holds Youth Rugby Flag Festival

 

Morris Rugby held a Youth Rugby Flag Festival last Saturday. This is the culminating event of Morris Rugby's American Youth Flag Rugby season and, despite the heat, it was great! There was an estimated 750 kids were playing including players from Union County's Youth Rugby programs plus parents, siblings, coaches & Festival volunteers - probably over 1200 at a field facility in Chester, NJ, for non-stop Flag rugby action for players ranging in age from 5 - 14! There were also two tackle scrimmages for those girls and boys who had - participated in the adjunct tackle clinics over the summer (for grades 6-8). Due to the heat, only about 12 girls stayed to participate but some of them weren't in 8th grade yet so they'll be primed and ready to join our Girls U19 team by 8th grade! We had another 9 girls sign up for the U19 team, too! There were just a ton of boys as well! These young lads will be able to join the new (Spring 2006 was the first season) Morris U15 Boys team! All in all, a great celebration of Youth Rugby!!
