2006 Coaching Development Program Dates/Sites Announced

After a rigorous screening process, the final host sites have been confirmed for the Spring 2006 Coach Development Program (CDP) season. Each site will feature CDP workshops required to complete USA Rugby coach certification along with registration and completion of all on-line modules within the Coach’s Portal.

The locations were selected based on multiple criteria including (but not limited to) geographical location, available facilities, event timing, need basis, and history within the coach education program.

Jan. 7-8: Portland, Ore. (Oregon Youth Rugby)*
Jan. 14-15: Santa Rosa, Calif. (Elsie Allen Lobos)
Jan. 21-22: New Orleans, La. (re-scheduled)
Jan. 28-29: Charlotte, N.C. (Carolina Youth Rugby)*
Feb. 4-5: Reading, Pa. (Albright College Rugby)

March 11-12: Indianapolis, Ind. (Indianapolis Impalas/White River RFC)*
March 18-19: Stony Brook, N.Y. (Stony Brook University RFC)*

NOTE: Walk-ins to workshops are STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. It is essential to have the knowledge gained from completion of the online modules before attending a workshop. The workshop fee for walk-ins will be $250. Please consult the CDP website for more information.

The new coach development program recently completed a successful limited fall schedule that served as a testing ground for the New CDP adaptations from the previous CAP program. The changes and additions to the program have been met with rave reviews from various participants and organizations regarding the new format and development of the on-line USA Rugby Coach’s Portal.

To get a feel for the enthusiasm in the International Rugby Community for the USA Rugby Coach's Portal take a look at the IRB/NAWIRA Information Page. - “I have taken a good look through the various pages and modules, and I must congratulate you on the excellent job that you have done! I want to recognize your fine work.” - Tom Jones, IRB Regional Development Manager North America and The West Indies

In an effort to ensure a fair RFP selection process takes place, USA Rugby has adopted a timeline to be used in host site selection. Please consult the CDP seasonal schedule outline for more details on how and when to apply to host workshops to your region.

Questions about registration or course logistics should be sent to Katie Wurst at kwurst@usarugby.org and questions about course content or host site selection should be sent to Pete Steinberg at psteinberg@usarugby.org.
